WHISTLESAFE™

WhistleSAFE™ provides students and community members with whistles that can be used as one tool against sexual assault. Each whistle helps raise awareness and educate individuals about street safety, rape prevention and risk reduction.

Whistles are engraved with the Rape Crisis Line phone number, and can be carried on key chains or lanyards. A card with safety tips as well as RVAP’s contact information is included with each whistle. Individuals can carry this card in their wallet or purse for quick access to the information.

Whistles can be picked up from the RVAP office at 332 S. Linn Street, Suite 100 in Iowa City. They are free to all University of Iowa students and only $1.00 for members of the public.

The WhistleSAFE™ program is funded by RVAP and The University of Iowa Student Government. Nearly 40,000 whistles have been distributed since its 2007 inception.
